Passage of the bill that would reauthorize the Scholarships for Opportunity and Results (SOAR) program at current funding ($60 million annually) through fiscal 2021. The bill would equally split funding between D.C. public schools, D.C. charter school expansions and the Opportunity Scholarship program. Additionally, the bill would prohibit a limitation on the number of students eligible for receiving scholarships under the program, and would repeal a section of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2016 (PL 114-113) that limits the SOAR scholarship program to students of schools that meet certain requirements.
